Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), XC60 (2009–)
What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has lost communication with the airbag system's main unit (SRS) on the local sensor network. The fault may be caused by a break or loose contact in the wiring, or by a short to battery supply or ground. The code points to starting the troubleshooting in the module that sends the signal.
Possible causes
- Break or loose contact in at least one wire between the airbag system and the brake control module
- Short circuit to battery supply
- Short circuit to ground
- Fault in the module that sends the signal
What you can do
- 1Check the power supply to the airbag system's main unit, including the wiring and fuses, for breaks and shorts to ground
- 2Check the wiring on the local sensor network for shorts to supply voltage and to ground, and for loose connectors
- 3Read the codes in the airbag system and other modules on the sensor network with diagnostic equipment
- 4The airbag and brake systems are safety-critical, so do not work on them yourself and have a workshop carry out all work on the wiring and the modules
Symptoms you may notice4
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- Stability function does not work
- Traction control does not work
- Adaptive cruise control and collision and brake support do not work
