What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) takes information from the engine control module (ECM) over the CAN network and checks it with an internal function. The code is set when the signal from the engine control module deviates from the expected value. The fault normally lies in the engine management rather than in the brake control module.
Possible causes
- Fault in the engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Read codes in the engine control module and troubleshoot them first
- 2Check that the engine runs normally and that there are no other codes in the engine management
- 3Do not replace the brake control module for this code, as the fault normally lies in the engine management
- 4The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the engine management signal and the brake control module
Symptoms you may notice2
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- Traction control does not work
