What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) receives no information from the transmission control module (TCM) on the CAN network, or the communication is disturbed. The stability functions then cannot get data about the gearbox. The fault most often comes from interference or intermittent breaks on the network rather than from the brake module itself.
Possible causes
- Interference or intermittent breaks on the CAN network
- Fault in the transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read codes in the central electronic module and any other affected modules first, and correct them before this code is cleared
- 2If no codes are stored, check the wiring on the CAN network for breaks, chafing and contact resistance
- 3Check that the wiring is not routed close to sources of interference, such as mobile phones
- 4Clear the code only once the cause has been corrected, and check that it does not return after a road test
- 5The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the wiring and the modules
Symptoms you may notice3
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- Stability function does not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
What the fault can affect3
- Stability control is disabled
- Traction control is disabled
- Dynamic stability control (AYC) is disabled
