BCM-U042268
VOLVO
BCM-U042268 - Invalid Data Received From Central electronic module. Algorithm Based Failures. Event information
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) continuously receives the information it needs from the central electronic module (CEM) over CAN and checks its quality. The code is set when the CEM reports a lower quality level than the brake module accepts. Front monitoring, adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support may then work poorly or not at all.
Possible causes
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which sends information of too low quality
What you can do
- 1Read codes in the central electronic module and troubleshoot them first, as the fault lies there
- 2This code can only be cleared once the root fault has been corrected and its own code has been cleared
- 3Check that adaptive cruise control and collision warning work after the repair
- 4The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the central electronic module and the brake control module
Symptoms you may notice3
- Adaptive cruise control does not work
- Front monitoring and active safety do not work
- Collision warning with brake support does not work
