What does this fault code mean?
The SAS broadcasts steering data on CAN for several brake functions. The BCM checks the data internally; a wrong checksum means the value is not what is expected, and the fault sits in the SAS module.
Possible causes
- Fault in the steering angle sensor control module (SAS)
What you can do
- 1Read codes in the steering angle sensor module and troubleshoot them first
- 2Do not replace the brake control module for this code, as the fault lies in the steering angle sensor
- 3Check that the code does not return after a road test
- 4The brake and stability systems are safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the steering angle sensor and the brake control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- Traction and anti-skid warning lamp lit
- Stability function does not work
- Traction control does not work
- Anti-skid function does not work
What the fault can affect2
- Stability control and traction control are disabled
- Dynamic stability control (AYC) is disabled
