What does this fault code mean?

With adaptive cruise control active, the brake control module opens a pressure valve that lets air into the brake booster so the brake pressure rises automatically. The code is set when the braking that is measured differs from the braking cruise control has asked for. The fault may come from the vacuum pressure, the brake booster or another module.

    Possible causes

    • Incorrect vacuum pressure
    • Fault in the front monitoring module (FSM)
    • Fault in the engine control module (ECM)

    What you can do

    1. 1Check the vacuum system: the pedal should feel firm with the engine off and softer after starting the engine
    2. 2Read codes in the engine control module and in the front monitoring module and troubleshoot them first
    3. 3Have a workshop read the brake pressure when the pedal is pressed; if the pressure does not rise with pedal force, the brake hydraulic unit may need replacing
    4. 4The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out all work on the vacuum system, the brake booster and the brake control module

    Symptoms you may notice2

    • Adaptive cruise control does not work
    • Cruise control will not engage

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
