BCM-U300041 - Control Module. System Internal Failures. General checksum failure
System
Brake Control Module (BCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
When the sensors in the airbag system (SRS) are calibrated, a checksum is stored in the brake control module (BCM). At each start-up the module compares the stored checksum with a calculated one. The code is set when the airbag system has been replaced and the checksums do not match, meaning the brake control module is not calibrated.
Possible causes
- The brake control module is not calibrated
What you can do
- 1Calibrate the brake control module following the workshop information for vehicle communication
- 2Read the code status after calibration, with the ignition on and some time having passed
- 3If the code has disappeared, or has changed from permanent to intermittent, the fault has been corrected
- 4The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out the calibration and check the function
Symptoms you may notice5
- Traction and anti-skid warning indication shows a fault
- Stability function does not work
- Front monitoring and active safety do not work
- Adaptive cruise control does not work
- The brake pedal needs more force than normal
What the fault can affect2
- Traction control and stability control are disabled
- Dynamic stability control (AYC) is disabled
