Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The BCM runs an internal self-check on its own components. The code is set when that check has registered an internal fault, such as a watchdog or microprocessor fault that counts as a safety fault. The fault can only be detected once the test has started and usually requires the module to be replaced.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the brake control module
What you can do
- 1Replace the brake control module, as the fault lies inside it
- 2After replacement, the accelerometer (IMU) and the internal sensors of the brake module must be calibrated by a workshop
- 3Switch the ignition on and choose to continue the calibration when the system asks
- 4The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out the replacement and the calibration
Symptoms you may notice5
- ABS warning lamp lit
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- Stability function does not work
- Traction control does not work
- Front monitoring and active safety do not work
What the fault can affect3
- Locking-free brakes and brake force distribution are disabled
- Traction control and stability control are disabled
- Dynamic stability control (AYC) is disabled
