What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) has registered an internal fault in its monitoring software. The fault lies in the module, which then sends a message to the other modules on the car's network that its information is incorrect. The code is set at ignition on.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the brake control module
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the brake system are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Where possible, check the relevant functions using the switches, controls and a road test
- 3Read the codes and have a workshop troubleshoot them according to the accompanying information with diagnostic equipment
- 4The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any intervention in the brake control module
Symptoms you may notice5
- Information lamp lit
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- Traction control does not work
- Stability function does not work
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- The BCM notifies the other nodes on CAN that the data it provides is wrong
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
