What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) measures the battery voltage and sets the code when it is too low while the fastest-turning wheel is above the speed limit. Low voltage can affect the brake system's electronics, and the cause is most often the battery, the charging system or a poor connection.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Battery voltage too low
- Fault in the charging system
- Break in the supply wire
- Blown fuse
- Internal fault in the brake control module
What you can do
- 1Start the engine and let it idle; the voltage should be normal system voltage
- 2If the voltage is too low, have a workshop check the charging system and the battery with diagnostic equipment
- 3Check the fuses for the brake system and the connectors at the brake control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Check that the supply wire to the brake control module has no break
- 5The brake and stability systems are safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the electrical system and the brake control module
Symptoms you may notice5
- ABS warning lamp lit
- Brake circuit warning lamp lit
- Traction control warning lamp lit
- Stability function does not work
- Traction control does not work
What the fault can affect3
- Stability control is disabled
- Traction control is disabled
- Dynamic stability control (AYC) is disabled
