What does this fault code mean?
The brake control module (BCM) compares its own battery voltage reading with the one reported by the central electronic module (CEM). The code is set when the two values disagree. Troubleshooting is only needed if the code stays active for a long time or the driver notices lost function; otherwise clearing it is enough.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Internal fault in the brake control module
What you can do
- 1Read the battery voltage in the brake control module and in the central electronic module; the values should be about the same
- 2If the values are about the same, the fault was intermittent and is no longer active
- 3Check the connectors at the brake control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Clear the code and check that it does not return
- 5The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop carry out any work on the brake control module
