BECM-C104717 - Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage Sense "G" Circiut Range/Performance. General Electrical Failures. Circuit voltage above threshold
System
Battery Energy Control Module (BECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The battery energy control module (BECM) has registered too high a voltage in the battery cells of cell group G in the high-voltage battery. It is often caused by how the battery has been charged, so charging from every source is checked. The fault is detected while the car runs on electric power or is charging, and it may be temporary or permanent.
Possible causes
- Faulty charging from the external charging cable, to be traced in the charger module (OBC)
- Faulty charging from the combustion engine, to be traced in the engine and generator modules (ECM and IGM)
- Faulty charging through regenerative braking, to be traced in the electric rear axle module (IEM)
- Damage to the high-voltage battery
What you can do
- 1Read codes in the BECM, the charger, the engine control and the rear axle module first, and troubleshoot any codes there
- 2Have a workshop check the charging with the cable and charging point being used, and try a different charging point
- 3Have a workshop with high-voltage qualification check the cell voltages and the battery
- 4High-voltage systems may only be handled by qualified personnel, so never work on the battery yourself
Symptoms you may notice5
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- Drive modes PURE, SAVE and AWD are switched off or unavailable
- Hybrid mode is used more often than normal
- Charging warning indication lit
- The battery charges poorly
What the fault can affect1
- Electric drive is not possible
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
