Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The BECM checks whether the control signal to battery coolant pump B is reasonable for the pump's operation. The fault is a performance fault: the control signal lies outside the normal range. It may come from the pump itself or from the cooling around it, such as a coolant level that is too low or air in the system.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation in the connectors
- Coolant level too low
- Air in the battery cooling loop
- Battery coolant pump B is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to check whether it returns
- 2Make sure the coolant level is high enough and top up if needed
- 3Have a workshop check that the pump connectors are secure and free from corrosion
- 4Have a workshop bleed the cooling loop if there is air in the system
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check pump B
- 6The high voltage system should only be handled by qualified personnel, so have a workshop carry out all work on the battery and other high voltage parts
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
