Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The BECM receives crash signals from the supplemental restraint system (SRS) and the central electronic module (CEM), and a directly connected signal cable is checked after each drive. The code is set when the directly connected crash signal cable is too low, which may be caused by poor contact, a short circuit to ground or an open circuit in the cable.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation in the connectors
- The signal cable is short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the signal cable
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to check whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors in the signal cable are secure and free from corrosion
- 3Have a workshop check the crash signal cable for a short circuit to ground and for an open circuit
- 4Do not work on the airbag system yourself, have a workshop carry out the check
- 5The high voltage system should only be handled by qualified personnel, so have a workshop carry out all work on the battery and other high voltage parts
Symptoms you may notice1
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
