Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The BECM controls the coolant flow in the battery cooling loop with a shut-off valve that switches the coolant between the battery cooler and the vehicle radiator. The signal commanding the valve is too low, which points to a fault in the valve or in the cable to it. Cooling of the battery may therefore be affected.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation in the connectors
- The control signal cable to the valve is short-circuited to ground or has an open circuit
- The battery cooling shut-off valve is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to check whether it returns
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors in the cooling system are secure and free from corrosion
- 3Have a workshop check the cable between the control module and the valve for a short to ground and for an open circuit
- 4Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the valve and replace it if needed
- 5The high voltage system should only be handled by qualified personnel, so have a workshop carry out all work on the battery and other high voltage parts
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
