What does this fault code mean?
The BECM monitors the power consumption continuously. When charging from an external cable, it checks that consumption matches the energy supplied. The code is set when current is drawn from the battery although no energy is being supplied.
Possible causes
- Incorrect charging from the external charging cable
- The fault may lie in the on-board charger (OBC)
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to check whether it returns
- 2Check that the charging cable and the charging work as they should
- 3Have a workshop read the fault codes in the on-board charger (OBC) and remedy any faults found
- 4The high voltage system should only be handled by qualified personnel, so have a workshop carry out all work on the battery and other high voltage parts
Symptoms you may notice3
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- Drive modes PURE, SAVE and AWD disengage automatically or cannot be selected
- The battery may feel discharged or give low voltage
