System
Battery Energy Control Module (BECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The temperature difference between parts of the battery has become too large, which indicates that cooling works worse than it should. It may be a consequential fault of another fault, or the cooling loop inside the battery may be blocked.
Possible causes
- Consequential fault to a fault showing reduced cooling
- The coolant circuit within the battery pack is obstructed or the battery is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to check whether it returns
- 2Make sure the coolant level in the battery cooling loop is high enough and top up if needed
- 3Have a workshop check whether other temperature related fault codes are stored in the BECM and remedy them first
- 4Have a workshop check the battery cooling. If the cooling loop is blocked, the battery may need replacing
- 5The high voltage system should only be handled by qualified personnel, so have a workshop carry out all work on the battery and other high voltage parts
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
