Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module (CCM) has noticed that the fan motor that blows over the cabin temperature sensor is running too slowly. The sensor reading may then be affected by heat from nearby electronics, and the cabin temperature does not match the setting.
Possible causes
- The fan motor is blocked
- Open circuit in the wiring between the control module and the fan motor
- The wiring between the control module and the fan motor is short-circuited to voltage or ground
- The fan motor is faulty
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to check whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the number of pulses from the fan motor in live data and check that the value is steady and reasonable
- 3Hold a slip of thin paper against the vent grille by the cabin sensor; if it sticks there, the fan is running
- 4Check that the fan can spin freely and is not blocked by any object
- 5Disconnect the connector and use a multimeter to check that the wires to the fan have no contact with voltage or ground
Symptoms you may notice2
- The cabin temperature does not match the selected setting
- Poor heating in the cabin
What the fault can affect1
- The fan motor's pulse sensor is switched off
