Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The compressor has run for its maximum time, which depends on the outside temperature, and is switched off and on repeatedly, so the code protects it. The fault may come from low refrigerant, poor pressure in the A/C system, or a wrong configuration ID on the CAN bus.
Possible causes
- Incorrect configuration ID on the CAN bus
- Low refrigerant level
- Poor pressure in the A/C system
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to check whether it returns
- 2Check for leaks in the climate system, such as oil stains at the connections
- 3Have a workshop top up the refrigerant and check the pressure in the A/C system
- 4Have a workshop check the configuration ID on the CAN bus, since that requires diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice3
- The A/C system does not work
- The A/C compressor will not start, or only starts now and then
- Irregular cooling from the A/C system
