Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CCM relies on the evaporator sensor reading to regulate the A/C compressor. The code is set when the signal is too high, for example after an open signal or ground wire, or a short circuit to voltage.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short to voltage in the signal wire
- Poor contact, corrosion or a loose plug in the connectors
- Open circuit or short to voltage in the ground wire
- The evaporator temperature sensor is defective
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to check whether it returns
- 2Check that the evaporator temperature is reasonable. If the car has cooled down with the climate off, it should roughly match the outside air
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the evaporator temperature in live data and check that the value is reasonable
- 4Check that the connectors to the sensor are free from oxidation and sit firmly
- 5Disconnect the connector and use a multimeter to check that the signal and ground wires have no contact with voltage
Symptoms you may notice3
- No cooling from the A/C system
- The A/C compressor will not start, or only starts now and then
- Irregular cooling from the A/C system
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
