CCM-0006 - Evaporator temperature sensor. Signal too low

Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CCM relies on the evaporator sensor reading to regulate the A/C compressor. The code is set when the signal is too low, and the fault may be intermittent and caused by a short to ground.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to ground
- The evaporator temperature sensor is defective
What you can do
- 1Read and note the fault code, clear it and road test to check whether it returns
- 2Check that the evaporator temperature is reasonable. If it is correct now, the fault is probably intermittent
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the evaporator temperature in live data and check that the value is reasonable
- 4Disconnect the connector and use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground (the car body)
- 5If nothing else is found, the sensor may need replacing
Symptoms you may notice3
- No cooling from the A/C system
- The A/C compressor will not start, or only starts now and then
- Irregular cooling from the A/C system
