Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module has received too strong the signal from the right temperature damper. The fault code can be set together with other damper codes, which may point to a fault in the shared network that drives the dampers. While the fault is present the damper motor cannot be activated.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Defective damper motor
What you can do
- 1Read off the stored fault codes. If CCM-0012 appears with other damper codes, the network may be at fault
- 2Check the connectors and the wiring to the damper motors for chafing, crushed areas and corrosion
- 3Clear the fault codes and test drive to see whether they return
- 4With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check the signal wire for ground contact (the body). If found, have a workshop repair it
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop decide whether the damper motor is damaged and replace it if needed
- 6If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the damper position in live data while turning the control and check that it changes smoothly
Symptoms you may notice1
- The cabin temperature does not match the value you have set
What the fault can affect1
- While the fault is present the damper motor is not activated, so the right temperature cannot be adjusted
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
