What does this fault code mean?
The fault code for direction control of the dampers is set when the control module has detected a fault several times in a short time. The usual cause is a signal wire shorted to ground, or a ground wire shorted to live voltage. After repeated faults, CCM-0018 is also set. If damper motors are moving when the fault is set, their own fault codes may be set too.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Ground wire shorted to live voltage
What you can do
- 1Read off whether CCM-0017 is stored together with CCM-0011 to CCM-0016 and CCM-0018
- 2Check the connectors at the damper motors and the control module for loose contacts and corrosion
- 3Check the wiring between the damper motors for chafing and crushed areas
- 4Clear the fault codes and test drive to see whether they return
- 5With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check for contact with ground (the body). If something is wrong, have a workshop repair the wire
- 6If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the damper position in live data while turning the control and check that it changes smoothly
Symptoms you may notice2
- Air flow problem
- The cabin temperature does not match the value you have set
