CCM-001D
VOLVO
CCM-001D - Left temperature knob. Faulty signal
System
Climate Control Module (CCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The signal from the driver-side temperature control is faulty. This is probably caused by a defective or short-circuited potentiometer in the control. The control module then works from a midpoint value, so the temperature on the left side may be wrong.
Possible causes
- Defective potentiometer
- Potentiometer shorted to live voltage or ground
What you can do
- 1Check which type of climate control the car has (electronic, ECC, or manual, MCC/STD)
- 2Turn the left temperature control between max and min and check that the temperature on the left side of the cabin changes
- 3If the fault returns, have a workshop check the control and its connector
- 4If the fault is permanent the climate control module must be replaced, since the potentiometer cannot be replaced separately. Have a workshop do this
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the control value in live data while you turn it between its end positions
Symptoms you may notice1
- Buttons and control knobs on the centre console (climate) do not work, work reduced or work incorrectly
What the fault can affect1
- The control module uses a value equal to half of the temperature control's maximum travel
