Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module has registered that the air quality sensor signal is faulty and too high. The fault applies to cars with electronic climate control (ECC) and an air quality sensor. While the fault is present the control module does not allow the recirculation flap to close in air quality mode, so that function is unavailable.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire linking the control module to the air quality sensor
- Signal wire linking the control module to the air quality sensor shorted to live voltage
- Defective air quality sensor
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on and the blower running, check that the air quality sensor reading sensor is reasonable
- 2Check the connectors at the control module and at the air quality sensor for contact resistance, oxidation and play
- 3Check the wiring for chafing and crushed areas
- 4Remedy anything found and clear the fault code
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the signal wire and replace the sensor if needed
- 6If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the sensor value in live data while you affect the sensor and check the value changes
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor air quality in the cabin
What the fault can affect2
- While the fault is present the control module does not allow the recirculation flap to close in air quality mode
- No air quality function
