Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module has found a fault in the temperature sensor of the left seat heater. The seat heating module sends temperature and status information to the control module over an internal bus. The fault is probably an open circuit, or a short to supply voltage or ground, in the wiring between the module and the sensor. The left front seat heating then cannot be activated.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the wire running from the seat heating module and the temperature sensor
- Cable linking the seat heating module to the temperature sensor shorted to live voltage
- Cable linking the seat heating module to the temperature sensor shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, check the connectors at the seat heating module and the sensor for contact resistance, oxidation and loose contacts
- 2Check the sensor in the seat for damage, and the wire for chafing and crushed areas
- 3Remedy anything found and clear the fault code
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop measure the sensor and replace it if needed
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the seat heater from the activation function and check that the seat gets warm
Symptoms you may notice1
- The front seat heating does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The control module does not allow the seat heater to be switched on
