Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The control module has registered a fault in the damper motor module for the defroster, which drives the defroster damper. The fault is probably caused by the module being miscalibrated after a loss of power, or by an internal fault in the module. The cabin temperature and airflow can then be wrong.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the defroster damper motor module
- Incorrect calibration after a loss of power
What you can do
- 1After a loss of power, for example when the battery has been changed, the damper may be out of calibration. Clear the fault code and test drive to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the airflow changes when the defroster button is pressed
- 3If the fault returns, have a workshop calibrate the damper motor module and replace it if the fault is permanent
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the damper position in live data while turning the control and check that it changes smoothly
Symptoms you may notice2
- The cabin temperature does not match the chosen setting
- Air flow problem
