Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module has received a faulty signal from the damper motor that controls the temperature on the right-hand side. The signal does not match what the module expects, so it cannot control the right side correctly. The code is only checked on cars with electronic climate control (ECC).
Possible causes
- Fault inside the damper motor module (DMM) for right temperature
- Incorrect calibration after a loss of power, for example when the battery has been replaced
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery is well charged, as a loss of power may have caused the wrong calibration
- 2Clear the code and test drive the car to see whether it returns
- 3Turn the temperature selector between cold and hot and listen for the right-side flap moving
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the right temperature flap position in live data while you change the temperature. The value should follow the setting clearly
- 5If the code returns after clearing, have a workshop check the damper motor and replace it if needed, as it may need calibrating afterwards
Symptoms you may notice2
- The temperature on the right side does not match the setting
- The airflow may be wrong
