Volvo models this fault code applies to
This fault code has different meanings depending on model, model year or engine. Select the meaning that applies to your car.
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module has received a faulty signal from the air distribution damper motor, which controls whether air goes to the windows, the footwell or the face. Because the signal does not match, the module cannot trust the flap position, which can cause misting on the windows and mirrors and airflow problems.
Possible causes
- Fault inside the air distribution damper motor module (DMM)
- Incorrect calibration after a loss of power
What you can do
- 1Check the climate control fuse and that the battery is well charged
- 2Clear the code and drive with the climate control on to see whether it returns
- 3Change the air mode on the panel one step at a time and listen for the flap moving to each position
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the air distribution flap position in live data while you change the air mode. The value should follow the choice on the panel
- 5Check that the air intake in front of the windscreen is free from leaves and debris. If the fault remains, have a workshop check and, if needed, replace the damper motor
Symptoms you may notice2
- Misting on the windows and/or the outside mirrors
- The airflow does not work as it should
