What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module registers that no current reaches the recirculation damper motor when the motor should be activated. The motor may then be unable to move the flap, so the air cannot switch between outside air and recirculated air as intended. The fault may be caused by poor contact, an open circuit in the wiring or a defective motor.
Possible causes
- Poor contact or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the wiring to the recirculation motor, on the positive or negative side
- Defective damper motor
What you can do
- 1Check the climate control fuse and that the motor connector is tight and clean
- 2Check that the connectors are free from oxidation and that no wiring is chafed or loose
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the cable to the recirculation motor has no open circuit. An open circuit shows up as no connection at all
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the recirculation and read the damper motor status in live data. The motor should show that it receives power when activated
- 5If the cables are intact but the fault remains, have a workshop replace the damper motor and calibrate its end positions. Then clear the code
Symptoms you may notice1
- The airflow does not work as it should
