What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module has noticed that the end positions for one of the damper motors do not match the expected ones. The flap may then not be able to travel all the way, or the module may not know where it is. The fault can be caused by a blocked flap, a calibration done at the wrong temperature or an internal fault in the damper motor.
Possible causes
- Blocked damper
- Climate control unit calibrated at the wrong temperature
- Fault inside the damper motor module (DMM)
What you can do
- 1Look for anything that could block a flap, such as a loose screw, a cable or a piece of foam from a gasket, and remove it
- 2Let the car stand at normal room temperature for a while before calibration, as the temperature affects both the climate control module and the damper motors
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the actual and the preset damper range in live data and compare them. A motor that clearly differs is the likely source of the fault
- 4If the code returns after the flap has been checked, have a workshop calibrate the climate control system and identify the damper motors
- 5Clear the code after the work and test drive the car with the climate control on
Symptoms you may notice4
- Misting on the windows and/or the outside mirrors
- Airflow problem
- The cabin temperature does not match the selected setting
- No recirculation of the air
