What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module has found an internal fault in the damper motor for the defroster, the flap that directs air to the windscreen. The flap does not reach the position the module requests, which can make the glass clear slowly or not at all.
Possible causes
- Fault inside the defroster damper motor module (DMM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the climate control fuses are intact and that the battery has enough charge
- 2Drive the car with the defroster on and note how quickly the windscreen clears, to see whether it has changed
- 3Clear the code and then test drive the car to see whether it returns. The fault may be intermittent
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the defroster flap position in live data when you switch between defroster and other modes. The position should follow the selection
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop replace and calibrate the damper motor for the defroster
