CCM-007A
VOLVO
CCM-007A - Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor, ECC. Signal too high. Intermittent fault
System
Climate Control Module (CCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS40 (1996–2004), V40 (1996–2004)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module has received a signal that is too high from the engine coolant temperature sensor on cars with electronic climate control (ECC). The fault is intermittent: it has occurred at some point but is not present at the moment. Because the module gets faulty information, the cooling from the A/C system may be irregular.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal cable or the ground lead
- The signal cable or ground lead is short-circuited to battery voltage
- Defective engine coolant temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector to the coolant temperature sensor is firmly seated and that the contacts are not corroded
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal and ground leads to the sensor have no open circuit
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the cables are not live when the ignition is off
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the coolant temperature in live data while the engine is warm and see whether the value jumps
- 5If the fault returns even though the wiring is intact, have a workshop replace the coolant temperature sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- The cooling from the A/C system is uneven
What the fault can affect1
- The system uses a substitute value for the engine coolant temperature
