What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module has found an internal fault in the damper motor for the defroster. The flap bounces when it reaches its end position and does not go to the position the module requests. The fault can be heard as noise from the blower and may make the windscreen clear slowly, unevenly or not at all.
Possible causes
- Fault inside the defroster damper motor module (DMM)
What you can do
- 1Listen when you switch the defroster on and off and note whether you hear a bump from the climate control system
- 2Check that the climate control fuses are intact
- 3Test the defroster with the button and see how quickly the windscreen clears
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the defroster flap position in live data when you switch the defroster on and off. The flap should travel smoothly to its end position
- 5If the bounce remains, have a workshop replace the damper motor for the defroster and calibrate it
Symptoms you may notice3
- Unusual noise from the ventilation blower
- The windscreen clears slowly or unevenly
- The defroster does not work
