What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module (CCM) communicates with the damper motor module (DMM) for the right-hand temperature damper over the LIN bus. The damper should move to the position the control module requests. When it bounces at its end stop and does not reach the correct position, the control module registers an internal fault in the module. The fault may be permanent, or it may have occurred earlier and not be active now.
Possible causes
- Fault inside the right-hand temperature damper motor module (DMM)
What you can do
- 1Read off and clear the fault code, then drive the car for a while with the temperature control moved between cold and hot to see whether the code returns
- 2Check that the connector to the damper motor is fully engaged and free from oxidation and moisture
- 3Check the wiring to the damper motor for chafing and damaged insulation, especially where it runs close to moving parts
- 4With diagnostic equipment, follow the right-hand temperature damper position value in live data while the temperature is changed from cold to hot. It should stop at the end position, not jump
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop replace the damper motor module (DMM) for right-hand temperature
Symptoms you may notice1
- Temperature control works less well and the temperature in the cabin becomes uneven
