CCM-00A1
VOLVO
CCM-00A1 - Blower fan motor. Signal too high
System
Climate Control Module (CCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module (CCM) monitors a signal from the blower fan motor and has registered that it is too high. This can mean the fan is blocked, or that the signal is faulty somewhere on the way between the fan motor and the control module. While the fault remains the fan will not start, and the cooling from the A/C system is lost.
Possible causes
- Blocked blower fan motor
- Open circuit in the signal wire or the ground wire to the fan motor
- Control signal wire shorted to ground or battery voltage
- Diagnostic signal wire shorted to battery voltage
- Defective blower fan motor or power unit
- Contact resistance
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, turn the fan control to highest, then lowest speed, and check the fan runs smoothly. If the battery was disconnected, a workshop may need to recalibrate it
- 2Check that the connectors at the fan motor and the climate control module are firmly seated. If any is loose, push it fully home and see whether the fan works
- 3Check that nothing is blocking the fan wheel in the climate system and that it turns freely by hand
- 4Check the fuses and the earth points to the fan motor, and use a multimeter to confirm that the ground wire is intact and has contact with ground (the body)
- 5Check that the signal and control wires have no chafing or broken insulation
- 6If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the fan motor and power unit
Symptoms you may notice3
- The blower fan does not work
- Airflow problem
- No cooling from the A/C system
What the fault can affect2
- While the fault remains, the control module does not release the fan motor
- The A/C compressor cannot start
