System
Climate Control Module (CCM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The climate control module (CCM) gets no response from the seat heating module (SHM) in the left front seat. The module sends its status to the control module over the LIN bus, and when the reply is missing the control module cannot control the heat. The cause may be a lost voltage supply or ground, a fault in the bus between the control module and the seat heating, or an internal fault in the module.
Possible causes
- Lost voltage supply or a problem with the ground connection
- Fault in the LIN bus between the control module and the left front seat heating, or in the connector at the climate unit
- Internal fault in the seat heating module (SHM)
- Internal fault in the left front seat heating module (SHML)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact, especially the fuse for the seat heating
- 2Check that the connectors to the seat heating and to the climate unit are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply to the seat heating is present with the ignition on, and that the ground wire has contact with ground (the body)
- 4Read off and clear the fault code, then road test the car to see whether it returns
- 5With diagnostic equipment, activate the left front seat heating and check that it starts. If it does not, and the connectors are sound, the bus needs checking
- 6If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the LIN bus between the climate control module and the seat heating
Symptoms you may notice2
- The electric heating in the front seat does not work
- The front seat heating does not work or gets too hot
