What does this fault code mean?
The defog damper motor, which controls the airflow to the windscreen, side windows and mirrors, has a fault according to the climate control module (CCM). The fault may be in the motor, in its control module, or in the calibration after a loss of power. Defogging then becomes weaker or stops.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the defog damper motor
- Incorrect calibration after loss of power
- Internal fault in the control module for the defog damper motor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Try the defog function with the control and see whether air goes to the windscreen and side windows
- 3Read and clear the code, then road test the car to see whether it returns
- 4Check that the connector to the damper motor is secure and not corroded
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop calibrate the climate control module and check the damper motor
Symptoms you may notice4
- Mist on the windows and/or the outside mirrors
- Mirror defog or defrost does not work
- Side window defog or defrost does not work
- Windscreen defog or defrost does not work
