5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM has at some point registered an internal fault in itself after the ignition was switched off. The fault is intermittent, so it may have occurred before without being active now. The instruments, instrument lighting and turn signals may have been affected.
Possible causes
- An internal fault in the control module
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition off, wait a moment and switch it on again. Check that the gauges and turn signals work
- 2Check the CEM fuse. If it has blown, replace it once. If it blows again, use a multimeter to check the wire after it has no contact with ground
- 3Drive the car for a while and see whether the code returns
- 4If it returns, read the fault codes with a diagnostic tool if you have one. If the fault persists, the CEM probably needs replacing
- 5After the work, clear the code and check that it does not return
Symptoms you may notice4
- No instruments are working
- The instrument lighting does not work
- The turn signals do not work
- Performance is reduced
What the fault can affect1
