What does this fault code mean?
The CEM registers too high a signal from the driver's seat belt buckle for a set time. The fault is intermittent, so it may have occurred before without being active now. The SRS warning lamp may light.
Possible causes
- A short to supply voltage in the wiring or connectors to the driver's seat belt buckle
What you can do
- 1Safety: the seat belt system is part of the crash protection. Do not work on the seat belt buckle wiring yourself; have a workshop check it
- 2Check that the belt latches and releases normally and that the buckle is undamaged, without opening any covers
- 3Look for chafed or pinched cables at the buckle, without removing anything. If you find one, have a workshop fix it
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the fault code after switching the ignition off and on, and see whether it returns
- 5After the work, clear the code and check that the SRS warning lamp goes out
Symptoms you may notice1
- The SRS warning lamp is lit
