What does this fault code mean?
The CEM registers too low a signal, or no signal, from the driver's seat belt buckle for a set time. The cause may be a short to ground, a break in wires or connectors, or a blown fuse. The SRS warning lamp is lit.
Possible causes
- A short to ground or an open circuit in the wiring or connectors to the driver's seat belt buckle
- The fuse for the seat belt system has blown
What you can do
- 1Safety: the seat belt system is part of the crash protection. Do not work on the seat belt buckle wiring yourself; have a workshop check it
- 2Check the fuse for the seat belt system. If it has blown, replace it once. If it blows again, have a workshop trace the wiring fault
- 3Look for chafed or pinched cables at the buckle, without removing anything. If you find one, have a workshop fix it
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the fault code after switching the ignition off and on, and see whether it returns
- 5After the work, clear the code and check that the SRS warning lamp goes out
Symptoms you may notice1
- The SRS warning lamp is lit
