What does this fault code mean?
This variant covers intermittent faults where the signal from the transistor stage to the starter relay is too low. The fault is intermittent, so it may have occurred before without being active now. The gear selector may then move only within a limited range.
Possible causes
- The output from the transistor stage to the starter relay is shorted to ground, so the starter relay stays activated when the key is in position III
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check that the gear selector moves normally through all positions
- 2Check that the connectors at the CEM and the starter relay are seated and not corroded
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the starter relay is not shorted to ground
- 4After the work, clear the code and check that the gear selector works normally
Symptoms you may notice1
- The gear selector only operates within a limited range
