What does this fault code mean?
This variant applies to the C30, C30 Electric, C70, S40 and V50. The CEM registers that the fuel level sensor circuit is shorted to battery voltage or has a break. The fuel gauge then shows the wrong level, and the trip computer may show an empty tank too early.
Possible causes
- A damaged fuel level sensor
- An internal fault in the DC/AC converter
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, check whether the fuel gauge shows a level that matches the fuel in the tank
- 2Check that the connectors at the CEM and at the fuel pump are seated and not corroded
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the sensor has no break or short to supply voltage
- 4If the wires are intact and the fault remains, have a workshop replace the sensor or the DC/AC converter, since this needs access to the tank
- 5After the work, clear the code and check that the level is shown correctly
Symptoms you may notice2
- The trip computer shows an empty tank too early
- The fuel gauge shows the wrong fuel level
What the fault can affect1
- The fuel level is set to zero
