VOLVO
CEM-4F33 - Battery Temperature Faulty Signal
System
Central Electronic Module (CEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM calculates the battery temperature from the outside temperature, vehicle speed, power supply state and engine coolant temperature. If one or more of these inputs is missing or of poor quality, the code is set. The battery temperature may then be wrong.
Possible causes
- An internal fault in the transmitting sensor
- A fault inside the brake control module (BCM)
- An internal fault in the CEM
What you can do
- 1If any of the codes CEM-DE01, CEM-4C01, CEM-4C02, ECM-0117 or ECM-0118 is also stored, deal with that one first
- 2Check that the connectors on the input sensors and control modules are seated and not corroded
- 3Switch off the ignition, start the car and see whether the code becomes intermittent. If so, the fault is no longer active
- 4After the work, clear the code and check that it does not return
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
