What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) controls the power to the electrical additional heater through an output, and the fault code is stored when the signal on that output is faulty. It shows as poor heating in the passenger compartment, because the additional heater does not work as it should.
Possible causes
- Signal cable to the additional heater short-circuited to ground
- Faulty signal from the CEM output
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition on, activate the electrical additional heater and check whether it gets warm
- 2If it does not warm up, the fault is probably permanent; if it warms up, the fault was present earlier but is not active now
- 3Check the control signal cable for chafing and pinching
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the control cable to the additional heater has no contact with ground (the body)
- 5Remedy what is found and check that the cabin heating improves
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor heating in the passenger compartment
