What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) monitors the flame sensor in the heater. A short to ground in the flame sensor line is treated as a fault by the control unit, and the code is set. The fault shows when the heater is active, and it causes poor interior heating.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Defective flame sensor
- Damaged flame sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and activate the heater with only the ignition on, then listen for a buzzing sound showing that the heater runs
- 2Check that the control unit connectors are secure and free from corrosion
- 3Use a multimeter to check the flame sensor signal wire for contact with ground (the body), testing one wire at a time
- 4If the wire is intact and the fault remains, a workshop should replace the flame sensor
- 5Test-run the heater and check that it runs steadily
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor interior heating
