What does this fault code mean?
The parking heater went out unexpectedly during operation, and the central electronic module (CEM) has registered this as a fault. The cause may be that fuel does not reach the heater, that the flame sensor is sooty, or that the wiring has an open circuit or contact with voltage. The fault shows when the heater is active.
Possible causes
- No fuel supply to the heater
- Flame sensor covered with soot
- Damaged flame sensor
- Contact resistance in the control unit connector
- Open circuit in the signal or ground wire
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage supply
What you can do
- 1Check that there is fuel in the tank and that the fuel lines are not leaking or damaged. Use gloves and eye protection
- 2Read and note the code, clear it, then activate the heater and listen for a buzzing sound
- 3Check that the control unit connectors are secure and free from corrosion
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the flame sensor wires have no break and no contact with voltage
- 5If the wiring is intact and the fault remains, a workshop should replace the flame sensor
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor heating in the passenger compartment
- Parking heater does not work
