What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) monitors the water pump in the parking heater. If the signal in the pump circuit is too high, the code is set. The fault shows when the heater is active, and the heating of the passenger compartment becomes poorer.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to voltage supply
- Defective water pump
- Damaged water pump
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and activate the heater to see whether the fault returns
- 2Activate the water pump with the heater running and listen for a buzzing sound showing that it runs
- 3Check that the water pump connectors are secure and free from corrosion
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the water pump has no contact with voltage supply
- 5If the wire is intact and the fault remains, a workshop should replace the water pump
Symptoms you may notice2
- Parking heater does not work
- Poor heating in the passenger compartment
