Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The CEM has not received confirmation from the passenger door lock motor that the door has locked, even after a second locking command. The cause may be a defective switch that indicates the lock motor status, a lock motor stuck in the unlocked position, or a lock motor that has become too hot.
Possible causes
- Faulty status switch on the lock motor
- The lock motor has jammed in the unlocked position
- The lock motor has become too hot
What you can do
- 1First check that there are no fault codes in the driver door and passenger door modules, and clear them if needed
- 2Lock and unlock the car several times with the remote control or the central locking button, and check that the door locks and unlocks
- 3Wait between locking operations, as the lock motors can become hot and stop working temporarily if used too many times in succession
- 4Check the wire to the lock unit for chafing and loose connections, and use a multimeter to check that it has no break or voltage contact
- 5If the lock unit does not work as intended and no other fault is found, it is probably internal and a workshop should replace the lock motor
Symptoms you may notice2
- Door does not lock or unlock
- Door locked or unlocked twice in succession
