What does this fault code mean?
The steering column lock control unit needs programmed codes to communicate within the start blocking system. The fault code is set when the CEM sends a message to that unit and gets an incorrect answer, because the unit is not programmed correctly. The symptom is that the starter motor does not turn.
Possible causes
- The steering column lock module is not correctly programmed
What you can do
- 1If the starter motor does not turn, troubleshoot the starting system first, for example the battery and fuses
- 2The lock control unit cannot be reprogrammed, so a workshop must replace it and program the new unit
- 3If the fault returns after an earlier repair, ask the workshop to check the programming
